Check out the video to the right--->. The protein skimmer in the video is the same skimmer I explain how to build in my Do It Yourself Protein Skimmer ebook. Let me give you a brief explanation of how I got started with my Do It Yourself reef aquarium equipment. The first reef aquarium I ever setup was a second hand fifty five gallon tank, that came with a wet dry filter, a protein skimmer, a power compact fluorescent light, and a metal stand. I paid one hundred dollars for the whole set up. When the protein skimmer broke I made a trip to my local fish store and was shocked to find the cost of a new one was right around a months mortgage payment. Needless to say I didn't buy it. I had always heard about people custom building their own under gravel filters, so I started looking into building my own skimmer. I found some on the internet, but the ones I found either cost as much as if I were to buy one, or the builds were just to difficult. I took a good look at the skimmer that broke and figured "I could probably build one of these thing". I needed to build a skimmer that wouldn't cost a small fortune. So I decided to use standard white PVC pipe, cheap and readily available. It took a few design modifications but I finally came up with a protein skimmer that worked awesome!!! The skimmate that this skimmer produced week after week was simply amazing. I used this skimmer weeks, then months, and now years. This skimmer cost me fifty dollars to build. It has lasted 6 years and has never let me down.
As time went on, I would end up needing more equipment for my tanks and after the success with the skimmer I decided to go full on with as much DIY stuff as I could. I Designed an extremely easy to build wet dry filter then a very nice and effective sump refugium, I even made my own live rock that turned out to be unbelievable.
Before I wrote these ebooks, I did loads of research, and found tons of information in books, on the internet, and from other hobbyist. I decided to put all that I'd learned into these easy to follow plans. If you are thinking of making any of these projects, all the information and instructions are right here in these easy to follow step by step ebooks. Anyone can build any of my DIY projects. Even if you have limited building experience, building one of my designs will be a snap following my direction laid out for you in these plans. All of my designs are being used by thousands upon thousands of not only reef aquariums but fresh water aquariums hobbyists as well.
- Do it Yourself Protein Skimmer. this protein skimmer produces non-stop skimmate. Here is a video of my skimmer in action. I know that skimmers have come a long way since the counter current design, this skimmer holds it own and for the price it take to build, its a win win. I will put my skimmer design against any skimmer on the market today. This skimmer pulls out tons of DOCs (Dissolved Organic Compounds). It stands up against skimmers that cost tens times what this skimmer cost to build.
- How to Build a Sump Refugium Filter The sump refugium filter that I explain how to build in this ebook is designed to perfection. With the refugium in the middle section, water flows nicely over your macro algae and passes through to the return pump section. Inside the return section of the sump is a perfect location to put other equipment, such as a protein skimmer, heaters kalk reactor etc...
- How to Build a Wet Dry Filter I have designed a very clever and inexpensive way to build a wet dry filter. You could pay well over three hundred dollars in your local fish store for a filter just like this one. The wet dry filter I have under my 120 gallon tank has been running for more that five years and cost only $50.00 to build. For some it will cost less, because you may already have most of the supplies needed. I have used this design for clients of my aquarium cleaning business, many, many times.
- How to Make Your Own Live Rock All I can say about the live rock is, get ready to make the best do it yourself live rock ever created. The first batch cost me about what it would cost for one live rock. I have thousands of pounds of this rock over the years, you will be amazed when you see the finished product.

An electronic book (variously: e-book, eBook, ebook, digital book, or even e-edition) is a book-length publication in digital form, consisting of text, images, or both, and produced on, published through, and readable on computers or other electronic devices. Sometimes the equivalent of a conventional printed book, e-books can also be born digital. The Oxford Dictionary of English defines the e-book as "an electronic version of a printed book," but e-books can and do exist without any printed equivalent. Commercially produced and sold E-books are usually intended to be read on dedicated e-book readers. However, almost any sophisticated electronic device that features a controllable viewing screen, including computers, many mobile phones, and nearly all smartphones, can also be used to read e-books. Some companies, such as Amazon, with their Kindle for PC software, provide an emulator that allows a user to read their format on other platforms.
